Hi, I'm Chris, husband to one, father to two and employer to over 700!

 

The son of an English teacher, perhaps it was inevitable that I'd enjoy putting pen to paper.

I'm never short of an opinion, and for some unknown reason there are people out there who value it. 

 

My personal life centres around family.  My wife and I have been together for almost 25 years and have two wonderful children, a 13 year old daughter and 9 year old son...but the menagerie doesn't stop there.  Chase, our dog, is a 4 year old Stabyhoun from Denmark; Mishka, our cat, a Siberian Blue Point from Russia.  Then there's the farmyard...4 Alpacas, 2 Wiltshire Horned sheep, 19 Soay sheep, 4 Pygmy goats, 2 Anglo-Nubian cross Boer goats, 2 Kune-Kune pigs, 20 chickens and a pony called Stuart.

My career has been varied from kitchen porter, waiter, door-to-door sales, bank cashier, retail sales, recruitment and then finally the wonderful world of Telecommunications.  It was here that I found my niche, and after a couple of years working from someone else, I set out with my business partner to launch Focus Group.  That was in 2004.  We now have over 600 staff working across 9 offices throughout the UK, providing  a suite of ICT products and services to over 25,000 businesses.

I've been fortunate enough to be involved in the inception and development of numerous businesses alongside Focus, in telecoms, recruitment, hospitality and property development...not all of them successful.  It's through adversity that you learn something about yourself and in both my personal and business life I've learnt plenty.

 

I recently founded the Focus Foundation, a charity designed to connect our community of employees, customers and industry partners in order to make a positive impact on people’s lives.
